It is finally five o'clock and you have just finished the last of the paperwork in the office....PHEW! Suddenly, the alarm on your phone goes off reminding you to pick up your dry cleaning so you can have the perfect velvet dress ready for tomorrow's big company conference; you are the key speaker! On your way to the dry cleaner's you realize you need to pass by Walmart to pick up some boneless chicken breasts and pineapple cause you promised your husband that you are going to make him his favorite sweet and sour Chinese dish for dinner! Your head is about to explode! You go back home exhausted and you just want to throw yourself on the couch and sleeep.....Not the perfect serene day right?
Instead of stressing out about the reality of your day to day life, it is important for you to just pause for a second and grasp it in your hands and take control. You need to tell yourself that this is your life and you get to control the stress factors in it; even if it was just for 30 minutes during the day. You need some "ME TIME". During your stressful day, keep telling yourself : "It is okay to be stressed "right now" because I am going to treat myself in some "ME TIME" later on today ! Talk about positive reinforcement! Some "ME TIME" Ideas : 1- Light up a beautifully scented candle and indulge in a hot bath and a warm cup of hot chocolate while watching an episode of your favorite TV show on your tablet 2- Listen to some calming zen music while writing in your journal on your balcony 3 - Read your favorite book in bed 4 - Go for a walk around the block 5 - If it is warm outside, go for a quick swim to clear your head Always remember that "ME TIME" is subjective, all you have to do is give yourself 30 minutes a day of something that you really love to do. This way you will recharge and continue doing your daily activities with a better mood and a broader perspective on your life.
