A new year and a new year resolutions list! Look at last year's list and this year's list, what is in common between them? The unfulfilled goal of getting into the shape of your dreams! Yes we are all guilty of that and let me tell you something : Its okay! Because hopefully after you read this post you will somehow want to at least try to give it another shot but with a different perspective.
Scroll down through the following tips on how to be more motivated to workout and how to love to exercise! 1- Workout for your happiness! Exercise makes you happy. It makes you feel good mentally and psychologically. Other than the fact that it is an excellent stress reliever, your brain literally reacts in a way to make you feel better. We don't want to get too scientific here but did you know that when you exercise, your brain releases an enzyme called endorphin? Yes endorphin is the happy enzyme! It's a chemical in your brain that makes you feel happy. So exercise to get yourself more of those happy enzymes! 2- Workout to be fit and in shape and not for losing pounds! We are all guilty of harming our bodies with unhealthy habits. Whether they were nights of eating junk food, or tobacco consumption or even spending too much time on the couch; our bodies start adapting to these unhealthy habits and become unhealthy people. So to incorporate a healthy lifestyle you need to have balance; by a healthy balance we mean that even if you slip up and do those unhealthy habits, you can still make up for it by getting up and giving your body the fitness it deserves as a goal and not to make your only goal is seeing the scale go down. 3 - Workout for a short time everyday so you don't dread your workout routine! Keep your heart rate going everyday and night but working out for short intervals during the day and do not restrict it for a hours a few days a week. To keep your metabolism going and your motivation level up, work out for 20 - 30 minutes everyday maximum and spread it throughout the day. For example, do 10 minutes of cardio (Dancing (2 songs)), star jumps, jogging in place) and another 10 minutes of strength exercises (lunges, squats, etc..) during the day and then another 5 - 10 minutes of sit ups, push ups and crunches. Spread your workout throughout the day in the comfort of your own home. 4 - Make your workout session into an activity that you love! Do something you love while working out! If you love swimming, then go swimming! If you love to dance, then go dancing! Don''t force yourself with a workout you dread, make it a happy activity that you love. 5 - Associate your workout with something you love, this way you will look forward to your next workout session! By this we mean that you can do an activity that you love doing while working out. For example; divide a movie that you want to watch on 20 minute sessions for the next 6 days! Watch 20 minutes of the movie everyday and this way you will look forward to it the next day and thus you will look forward to working out! You can also start a series or a TV show and make it your "workout show" and watch an episode every workout session. If you go to the gym and you dread the treadmill; then start a book on your kindle and read a chapter for every treadmill session, this way you will want to go to the treadmill just to see what happens next in your book! We hope those tips help you to love to workout and always remember to love yourself and love your body and how you look regardless of your weight, size or shape because that is the most important thing. Workout to be fit and healthy and not because you want to change who you are. Exercise because you want to give your body the love and health it deserves and to make your life happier, longer and healthier!
